LEADERSHIP
The UNC Sugar Bears Dance Team is a student-run program. Each member of our leadership team holds a major role in making the team run smoothly, on top of being a full time student. This aspect of the Sugar Bears Dance Team is a great way for students to learn many skills in addition to leading a collegiate dance team!
Coaches
AVERY LILEY
My major is Audiology & Speech Language Sciences and I am studying to become a Speech-Language Pathologist! I’ve been dancing since I was 2 years old. I trained and danced competitively at Starstruck Academy of Dance for many years, and was a 4-year member of the Poms team at Rock Canyon High School. During this time, I earned two Bronze medals at UDA Nationals, and a 5A Pom State Runner-Up Title. I am currently in my third year as a Sugar Bear and have absolutely loved continuing my dance journey and sharing my school spirit!
EMARIE RODRIGUEZ
I am a nursing major here at UNC! Prior to being a Sugar Bear, I danced at a studio for 11 years before trying out for the Poms Team at Cherokee Trail High School. During this time, I earned a Silver and Bronze medal at UDA Nationals, and a 5A Jazz State title. I am so grateful to have been a part of CT's amazing Poms program for 4 years, with being a captain during my senior year. I have been a part of the Sugar Bear coaching team for 2 years now and I couldn't be more thankful for the community it has brought me and the memories I have made!

PAIGE SWAIM
I am an Early Childhood Education major here at UNC! I have been dancing since I was three years old at Peak Athletics and then Mountain Vista High School for all 4 years. During my time at Mountain Vista, I earned two 5A Jazz State titles, four NDA Regional titles, and one All-star National title. I am very excited to graduate college and become a first grade teacher!
MCKENNA STADLER
I have danced for 17 years. I started with a recreation program and then turned to the competitive world where I competed for 7 years. I was on the Riverdale Ridge Dance Team for 3 years and was the captain for those years, as well. This is my second year on the Sugar Bears and I couldn’t be happier. I am a nursing major and I one day hope to become a NICU nurse.
